Course description:

This first course will deal with multi-resistant bacterial skin infection in a dog with multiple co-morbidities. Treating a patient with MRSP (methicillin resistant Staphylococcus pseudointermedius) implies both care and attention to prevent iatrogenic bacterial widespread and puts the focus on making a rational use of antibiotic therapy in daily practice. Let’s see how we do it!

Objectives:

  • Provide recommendations for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of meticillin‐resistant staphylococcal infections in dogs.
  • Give an update on rational antibiotic use and to act as a tool for rapidly selecting the optimal antibiotic for empirical treatment while minimising the risk for resistance development.
