Cold plasma therapy for skin infections and wounds
WELCOME TO THE FUTURE OF VETERINARY DERMATOLOGY!
Summary:
Up to now, conventional treatments for infected skin diseases and wounds have been mainly based on chemical agents.
However, these are increasingly ineffective and can also have undesirable side effects, like resistance, as in the case of antibiotics. In recent years, cold plasma therapy has proven to be extremely effective in human medicine and is now available in veterinary medicine.
Cold plasma is an ionized gas with a high electrical voltage and a cocktail of oxidative reactive components, which together have a high antiseptic effect, without generating microbial resistance.
They act additionally as cell mediators for angio-neogenesis, inflammation and immune regulation, increased cell proliferation as well as pain and itching inhibition.
